The comment period for two proposed California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations will end on Wednesday, Dec. 10. CARB then will hold a public hearing in Sacramento on Thursday, Dec. 11, and Friday, Dec. 12, to receive testimony and vote on the regulations.

Under the proposed Truck and Bus regulation, most trucks operating in California would need to have diesel particulate filters by 2014 and meet 2010 emissions standards by 2023. The American Trucking Associations supports a more flexible alternative offered by the coalition Driving Toward a Cleaner California. To send a letter to CARB supporting the coalition’s option, go to www.drivecleanca.org.

The proposed Heavy-Duty Vehicle Greenhouse Gas Regulation would require 53-feet or longer dry-van and refrigerated trailers, and the tractors pulling these trailers, to have specific aerodynamic technologies in order to operate in the state.
