Arctic Express announced that it has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a SmartWay Transport Partner. Arctic has joined EPA’s partnership among government, business and consumers to protect the environment, reduce fuel consumption and improve air quality, and says it earned the agency’s highest classification on its initial application to the program.

The SmartWay initiative is designed to curb emissions through improvements in several key areas, including aerodynamic equipment, engine standards, tire maintenance and idle control. “We are thrilled to have qualified as a SmartWay carrier,” says Richard Durst, president and chief executive officer of Hilliard, Ohio-based Arctic Express. “The fruit of our efforts to reduce fuel consumption and curb emissions will be good for Arctic employees, Arctic customers, the public we share the roads with, and our environment.”
