US 1 Industries Inc. announced today, Dec. 15, that it has agreed to acquire a majority interest — 60 percent — in ARL Inc. Terms were not announced. ARL Inc., through its network of agents and owner-operators, provides intermodal drayage and maintains a wide range of equipment that includes dry vans, flatbeds and specialized equipment for the transportation of a wide variety of commodities.
ARL Inc., which has annual revenues of about $80 million, was established in 1978 and has grown from a small family-owned trucking company to a company with about 46 employees and 60 agents nationwide that service roughly 2,000 customers.
US 1 Industries, through its subsidiaries, operates primarily as a nonasset-based service provider to independent businesses operating in the trucking and logistics industries. The Valparaiso, Ind.-based company offers financial resources, risk management services, insurance and information technology to small independent business owners.
