Aljex Software reports robust results for 2008

Aljex Software — a provider of hosted management software for freight brokers, carriers, logistics companies and other transportation providers — announced record sales for the calendar year 2008, with an overall 39 percent increase in subscription sales over 2007.

In the latter part of 2008, Aljex signed Trinity Transport, one of the largest third-party logistics providers in North America. Aljex had reported strong sales in the first half of the year as well, despite the yearlong downward trend in the economy.

According to Tom Heine, president of Middlesex, N.J.-based Aljex Software, the key to his company’s success is intuitive hosted software, which is particularly appealing in economically difficult times. Aljex is Internet-based, always available, backed up and secure, according to the company; there is no software installation cost and no cost for upgrades.

“The cost is directly related to business activity,” Heine says. “Customers make no upfront investment and add features as needed. Today, people are desperate to cut costs, and being more efficient is the easiest way to do so without jeopardizing sales. Clients have been raving about the new features and upgrades we are always adding.”

Aljex says that since it is hosted on the Internet, software upgrades are available immediately to all users at no additional charge; upgrades, improvements and tweaks are made weekly.

Aljex says that during 2008, it introduced a number of innovations, including Transportation Intermediaries Network (TIN), a Google map-based user-friendly system for 3PLs and brokers that includes free broker-to-carrier EDI; other innovations included versatile document management, an Aljex load board and available equipment board, and enhancements to Aljex’s SmartSearch function designed to enable automated offering of loads to and acceptance by trusted carriers.
