Daimler Trucks North America announced Thursday, March 12, that the Holland FWAL aluminum fifth wheel now is offered as an option on its Freightliner long-haul and heavy-duty models. Holland says the FWAL fifth wheel was developed through an engineering collaboration between SAF-Holland and Alcoa. FWAL options now are available for Freightliner models and can be ordered through the DTNA systems.

Holland says the lightweight forged aluminum product — designed to improve fuel economy, reduce emissions and haul heavier payloads — is more than 100 pounds lighter than competitive fifth wheels, yet matches the performance of standard fifth wheels with its 55,000-pound maximum vertical load and 150,000-pound maximum drawbar pull capacity. The FWAL Series also incorporates Holland’s proprietary NoLube technology, which is designed to eliminate the need to lube the top plate or locks, reducing maintenance and related service costs while offering cleaner and more environmentally friendly service.
