Maptuit, a provider of GPS navigation and route optimization for commercial transportation, announced that Cargo Transporters has deployed its NaviGo Advanced GPS Navigation throughout its fleet of 395 trucks.

“Cargo Transporters has made a significant investment in mobile information equipment over the past two years,” says John Pope, chairman of Claremont, N.C.-based Cargo Transporters. “Rolling out NaviGo in our cabs not only increased the value of that investment by delivering commercial-grade GPS navigation to our drivers, but it exposed new opportunities for operational improvements. NaviGo has turned our drivers into a source of real-time business intelligence, particularly when it comes to indentifying optimal routes and pinpointing customer locations. The result is that our drivers are getting routed correctly to loading docks, not to mailboxes, and that we’ve indentified and elevated specific routes for more frequent travel. We’ve certainly come to appreciate the value of a navigation solution that does not make the same mistake twice.”

NaviGo Advanced GPS Navigation is a subscription-based software solution that runs on fleet management and mobile communications systems. “Only Maptuit’s proprietary commercial map network is updated daily based on feedback from fleets, news outlets and various other sources,” says Luke Wachtel, executive vice president of Burlington, Mass.-based Maptuit. “Our customers realize significant operational advantage by continuously improving their own proprietary network, primarily through dispatch and driver feedback. At the same time, our customers are also taking advantage of global modifications of our network.”
