Xata Corp., a provider of fleet operations optimization, announced that TransAm Trucking, one of the largest refrigerated fleet operators in the United States, has extended its contract with Xata for the vendor’s MobileMax fleet management product.

TransAm, which leverages MobileMax to help operate its refrigerated fleet, says the fleet management solution is currently installed in more than 1,200 trucks. The Olathe, Kan.-based company says it uses MobileMax for two-way communications – leveraging Xata’s cellular and satellite multimodal communication network – to track its fleet assets and enhance delivery performance.

“We pride ourselves on providing the best service possible for our customers,” says Russ McEllicott, president and chief operating officer of TransAm. “Having Xata’s MobileMax fleet management solution deployed in our trucks helps us manage our business with the ability to track our trucks and get real-time access to fleet data. With MobileMax, we have reaped tremendous savings in so many ways, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with Xata.”

Xata says MobileMax integrates with TransAm’s internal business operations software, which the carrier leverages to run its day-to-day operations. MobileMax combines with TransAm’s business-operations software to optimize its fleet operations, delivering the ability to automatically receive such fleet data as delivery time and truck whereabouts, Xata says.

“TransAm is a smart company,” says David Gagne, executive vice president of field operations for Minneapolis-based Xata. “They know one of the key elements to being a best-in-class fleet operation is to have technology in place to help drive business efficiencies. With our extended relationship, we are excited to introduce them to additional functionality that will help run their fleet business even better.”
