Exel Direct, the home and business delivery service and business unit of North American supply chain management provider Exel, announced that it recently renewed its contract with Crate & Barrel. Under the terms of the two-year agreement, Exel provides white-glove delivery and setup of home furnishings to Crate & Barrel customers.
Exel Direct says the contract focuses on its dedicated business with the company: The Exel Direct team will manage operations and deliveries out of three facilities – two in California and one in Colorado – to serve customers primarily in the Central and Western portions of the United States. Exel Direct says it also will provide a two-hour scheduling window to Crate & Barrel customers, in-carton or fully deluxed services, and delivery to the room of choice inside the home.
“As one of the leading retailers of furniture and tabletop accessories, Crate & Barrel needs a home delivery partner that understands our customer experience philosophy,” says John Ling, vice president of supply chain management and logistics at Crate & Barrel. “This contract renewal represents a significant piece of our home delivery volume because we know Exel Direct continues to be a nationwide partner that practices our high standards of customer commitment at each possible touch point.”
Exel Direct says this renewal represents a significant portion of the nearly 110,000 annual nationwide deliveries it performs on behalf of Crate & Barrel through two contracts. The second contract, which is for network home and business delivery solutions, is current and fully operational.
