Hendrickson says its HN FR family of tandem rubber suspensions for the fire and rescue industry provides an ideal combination of stability, ride quality, light weight and articulation, and delivers exceptional performance to a wide range of vehicles. Offering a full range of rubber suspensions, the HN FR Series is available in tandem capacities of 42,000, 48,000, 54,000 and 58,000 pounds.

The company says the HN FR suspension system utilizes a VariRate spring system designed to provide the ideal balance of empty-ride quality and loaded stability; its diagonally-mounted rubber bolster springs act in compression and shear to enhance ride quality by dissipating road shock, while its extra-wide spring centers and Hytrel auxiliary springs provide added stability for high-center-of-gravity applications and emergency driving conditions.

According to Hendrickson, the HN FR family of suspensions was developed using the company’s walking-beam design, which equalizes the vehicle load over both axles by allowing the wheels to adjust to uneven terrain through a central pivot point. No lubrication requirements and the elimination of center-beam bushings make the HN FR system virtually maintenance-free, the company says.
