DistTech Inc., a provider of dedicated and common carriage for liquid bulk commodities, has relocated its Northeast Ohio trucking terminal to metro Cleveland to better accommodate the company’s changing customer base. DistTech began operating from a facility near Broadway Avenue and Interstate 77 in Cleveland in early April and has phased out its terminal in Newbury, Ohio. The carrier’s headquarters remains in Newbury.

“Our Northeast Ohio terminal relocation is part of a larger company initiative to position facilities closer to where our customers have their operations,” says John Rakoczy, chief operating officer for DistTech. “We feel this initiative enables us not only to be more responsive to our customers’ transportation needs, but also, more importantly, to reduce their supply chain costs, which is more critical than ever during this economic downturn.”

DistTech plans to leverage the rail system near the terminal on Rockefeller Avenue in Cleveland to offer customers transloading services and also intends to extend local shuttle and storage options for liquid bulk commodities. “Longer term, we anticipate adding more positions at the new Cleveland terminal as we attract additional customers and grow our business,” Rakoczy says.
