Gamber-Johnson says its Universal Semi-Truck Vehicle Base provides a rugged mounting solution for telematic units and laptops. The company says the versatile base can be mounted in Freightliner/Sterling, International, Volvo, Peterbilt, Kenworth, Mack and Western Star trucks; works with standard seating and air-ride seats, including seats from Sears, National, Bostrom, Isringhausen and Seats Inc.; can be installed in day cabs and sleeper cabs; and adapts to either auto or manual trucks.

The unit, according to Gamber-Johnson, also is:

  • Ergonomic – designed with driver comfort in mind, allowing the driver to easily see the computer screen, maintain line of sight of the road and drive without interference;
  • Unobtrusive – allowing easy access to the back sleeper, exits, stick shift and cab wiring;
  • Rugged – made of heavy-gauge black powder-coated steel, the vehicle base is bolted securely to the floor and is strong enough to hold a laptop computer or telematic unit while minimizing stress and vibration on the components;
  • Easy to install – no-drill design uses existing seat bolts for easy installation or removal to another semi-truck;
  • Adaptable – capable of mounting a scanner, printer or keyboard; and
  • Adjustable – allows four levels of lateral adjustment within the cab. The base also can be rotated to make the best use of current in-cab storage setup.
