Penske Truck Leasing has announced improvements to its facility in Carson, Calif. Offering full-service truck leasing, contract maintenance and commercial and consumer rental services, Penske says it added nearly 6,000 square feet to the two-story building, bringing the current dimensions to more than 19,000 square feet. Most of the additions, housed on five acres, were dedicated to the expansion of administrative offices, with about 1,300 square feet added to improve maintenance storage capabilities, the company says.

Improvements also resulted in the integration of Penske’s current facility design elements, new driver lounge and light bulbs outfitted with ballasts utilizing 50 percent less energy than conventional lighting, according to Penske. The Carson location employs 50 associates, services more than 180 leasing customers and maintains a fleet of nearly 1,000 vehicles onsite; it also features eight service bays, a wash bay and a four-lane fuel island.

“Consolidation was the main reason for expanding the facility,” says Peter Weeks, West Region senior vice president for Penske Truck Leasing, based in Reading, Pa. “Growth over the years necessitated these improvements. Now, Penske houses all Carson area administrative efforts under one roof. Previously, those operations were in two separate locations just a few miles apart.”
