FedEx Freight and FedEx National LTL, subsidiaries of FedEx Corp., will implement 5.9 percent general rate increases effective Feb. 1, the company announced Friday, Jan. 15.

The company says the rate increases apply to interstate and intrastate less-than-truckload shipments, as well as shipments between the United States and Canada covered by the FXF 1000 and FXNL 501 Base Rates. Various additional changes will include minimum and accessorial charges and some adjustments to fuel surcharges.

The new base rates, rules tariff and fuel surcharge information for the LTL companies will be available at www.fedex.com/us/freight/main on Feb. 1.

Rate changes for other operating companies within FedEx Corp. were announced in December. FedEx Corp. increased the standard list rates for FedEx Ground and FedEx Home Delivery by an average of 4.9 percent. FedEx SmartPost rates also changed. The new rates were effective Jan. 4.

FedEx Corp. also increased shipping rates for FedEx Express by an average of 5.9 percent for U.S. domestic and U.S. export services, also effective Jan. 4. The FedEx Express rate increase is being partially offset by adjusting the fuel price at which the fuel surcharge begins, reducing the fuel surcharge by two percentage points.

Changes were made to other FedEx Ground and FedEx Home Delivery surcharges, also effective Jan. 4. Additional adjustments also were made to the FedEx Express and FedEx Ground fuel surcharge tables.
