ABF Freight System Inc. has promoted Russ Aikman to director of marketing and public relations effective immediately, replacing Danny Loe, who recently was named vice president of yield management for the company. Aikman now is responsible for market strategy, new product development, Internet and intranet initiatives, advertising and public relations.

Aikman has been with ABF for 11 years, most recently as manager of the ABF TurnKey, Information Center and ByRequest departments – centralized customer service groups that develop customized solutions for ABF customers. Aikman also served previously as a regional training specialist with ABF in Dallas and a management trainee in Kansas City, Mo.

“During his 11 years of service to the transportation industry, Russ Aikman has developed the skills and insights needed to guide the marketing and public relations efforts of our company,” says Roy Slagle, senior vice president of sales and marketing for the Fort Smith, Ark.-based company. “Russ has worked closely with some of ABF’s largest customers to build unique solutions to some of the industry’s leading challenges, and I am confident that ABF and its customers will benefit as he brings this knowledge of the market to his new assignment.”
