Kenworth Truck Co. now offers the Takata SafeTraK 3 lane departure warning system as an option for the T700. The system combines an interior windshield-mounted video camera with vision software to help promote enhanced driver awareness and attention to turn signal usage by sending audio alert notifications of inadvertent lane departures to the driver.

Takata SafeTraK 3, which is compatible with the standard J1939 wiring system, integrates camera, optics, processor and power supply into a compact unit. Kenworth factory installation includes the unit, wiring harness, two headliner-mounted speakers, dash-mounted rocker switch and system status lamp, along with a driver’s guide for the glove box. A prewire option also is available.

Takata SafeTraK 3 must be specified with a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency 2007 or EPA 2010 engine and Kenworth’s optional curved one-piece windshield. The system also is available as an option for the T660 and T800.

The T700, which targets over the road and team driver operations, offers a wide-cab and 75-inch Aerodyne sleeper with an 8-foot cathedral ceiling, premium forward lighting and added serviceability features, as well as low aerodynamic drag EPA SmartWay program certification. The T700 may be ordered with either the 12.9-liter Paccar MX engine or 15-liter Cummins ISX15 engine.
