Qualcomm Inc. announced the promotion of Steve Mollenkopf to executive vice president and group president. This promotion recognizes the expansion of Mollenkopf’s executive oversight responsibilities over the past year to include not only Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT), but also Qualcomm Internet Services (QIS) and Qualcomm MEMS Technologies Inc. (QMT). Mollenkopf continues to report to Qualcomm Chairman and CEO Dr. Paul E. Jacobs.

“I congratulate Steve on his promotion to executive vice president and group president,” says Dr. Jacobs. “His outstanding leadership of QCT has enabled Qualcomm to expand its business and deliver innovative new products to market. Aligning our current and future technology development activities for QCT, QIS and QMT under Steve’s executive oversight will further strengthen the company’s ability to successfully navigate an increasingly complex and competitive market.”

Mollenkopf began his career at Qualcomm in 1994 as an engineer and was a contributor to the Globalstar project before joining the QCT team in 1999. Serving in various capacities within QCT, his technical and business leadership have been critical to the development and implementation of multiple industry-leading innovations. Mollenkopf led the development of Qualcomm’s UMTS family of air interface technologies before transitioning to a business role in 2007. In 2008, he was promoted to executive president and president of QCT.
