During his recent visit to the Pressure Systems International facility in San Antonio, Congressman Charles Gonzalez (TX – 20) called PSI an “Exemplary model for businesses in these difficult economic times.” Congressman Gonzalez brought along news crews from FOX, NBC and CBS to illustrate how a Texas company has survived the recession, increased their employment and is thriving in the world market by increasing the number of heavy-duty vehicles outfitted with the Meritor Tire Inflation System (MTIS) by PSI.

Two years ago Gonzales was on hand when PSI was recognized by the Central Region Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center for its innovations in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices to reduce costs and increase manufacturing capacity. “We’ve stressed lean manufacturing at PSI not as a way to reduce employment but rather as a job security measure because it makes our company more competitive and brings us additional business opportunities,” says Steve Ottemann, vice president of operations at PSI. “All our employees have enthusiastically embraced this process.”

While touring the PSI facility, Gonzalez was shown MTIS’ new green Thru-T and green-striped delivery hoses that help illustrate the environmentally friendly benefits of the product. “I always tell our customers and the end users of our product that our employees are the primary reason for our success,” says Tim Musgrave, president and chief executive officer of PSI. “Congressman Gonzalez’ remarks during his latest visit reflect the result of our employees’ dedication and hard work. Because of them, we have survived a difficult few years in our industry.”
