Kenworth now offers a new brochure on its T470 model, which is designed to provide heavy-duty performance and durability in more demanding medium-duty vocational and municipal applications, including snowplow, dump, mixer, winch and refuse. The T470 brochure is now available from Kenworth dealers in the United States and Canada, or as an electronic .pdf file for download from the Kenworth website at www.kenworth.com/brochures/T470.pdf.
The six-page T470 brochure offers comprehensive product information, including a full page with detailed specifications for axles, battery boxes, brakes, bumpers, cab, engines, exhaust options, frame, fuel tanks, hood, interior, starting and charging, suspension, transmissions, wheels and tires, and special equipment and options.
The T470 comes in a lighter weight configuration than a Class 8 truck with more optional horsepower than a medium-duty vehicle. The T470 utilizes the same ergonomic multiplexed dash, aerodynamic sloped hood and 3-piece bumper, forward lighting with Halogen projector headlamps and Kenworth Driver Information Center found in Kenworth’s heavy -duty product line.
Available as a straight truck or tractor in GVWRs ranging from 33,000 to 68,000 pounds, the T470 is designed with modern styling, ergonomic comfort and a fuel-efficient powertrain in a robust chassis. With full parent rail extensions providing maximum resistance to bending moment from one end of the rail to the other, the T470 is built with a solid, durable mounting platform for snowplows, winches, hydraulic pumps and front stabilizers.
The T470 is standard with the Paccar PX-8 engine rated up to 350 hp and 1,000 lb.-ft. of torque. Optional engine choices are the Cummins ISL9 engine rated up to 380 hp and 1,300 lb.-ft. of torque. Axle ratings are from 12,000 to 22,000 pounds (front), 21,000 to 30,000 pounds (single rear) and 40,000 to 46,000 pounds (dual rear). The T470 is available with a variety of manual and automatic transmissions.
The T470 is standard in a day cab configuration and optional with the Extended Day Cab and 38-inch AeroCab FlatTop sleeper. The T470 also can be ordered with an air ride cab, factory-installed power take-off and one lift axle. Clean frame rails and an exhaust-free back of cab are designed to clear the way for quick, efficient installation of a wide range of bodies and chassis-mounted equipment.
