The monthly container cargo count at the Port of Long Beach remained strong with a 24.6 percent increase in November compared to the same period a year ago, the port announced Tuesday, Dec. 14. Overall, the port says it moved 558,307 20-foot equivalent container units last month compared to 448,151 in November 2009.
Imports were up 20.2 percent to 274,480 TEUs, and exports were up 24.8 percent to 142,628 TEUs. Empty container moves were up 33.8 percent to 141,199 TEUs. Empty containers are mostly bound overseas for refilling.
