Volvo Trucks North America on Monday, March 28, announced that employees represented by the United Auto Workers have ratified a new five-year agreement covering about 1,300 members of UAW Local No. 2069 at the company’s plant in New River Valley, Va. The new contract is effective March 17, 2011, and will expire on March 16, 2016.
“Working with the UAW, we’ve arrived at an agreement that increases Volvo Trucks’ long-term competitiveness in the North American market, while continuing to offer our employees a great quality of life,” says Denny Slagle, president and chief executive officer of Volvo Trucks North America. “The stability this agreement provides will help us continue momentum as the market improves.”
