The U.S. average price of a gallon of diesel increased for the second straight week, rising 2.4 cents to $3.825 during the week ended Monday, Oct. 24, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration. That price is 75.8 cents higher than the same week last year.
Prices rose in every region, led by a 4.3-cent jump in California, where the average price is the nation’s highest at $4.096 a gallon. The smallest increase was 1.4 cents in the Lower Atlantic region, which had the second-least expensive diesel at $3.775. The nation’s least expensive diesel, as usual, was in the Gulf Coast region, where the average price was $3.745.
