Penske Truck Rental announced it once again is supporting the Shoeboxes for Military Spouses program, providing rental trucks for 17 locations in North Carolina to help pick up and transport donated items. The North Carolina-based nonprofit, Support Military Spouses, is dedicated to collecting and distributing shoebox gifts to military spouses.

“We are extremely honored to once again have the support of Penske Truck Rental,” say Diane and Dr. Steven Rumley, co-founders of Support Military Spouses. “With their assistance, we are able to recognize the sacrifices of military spouses on behalf of a grateful nation via a small gift of kindness. Our goal is to distribute over 1,000 boxes this holiday season.”

According to Support Military Spouses, there are in excess of a million active duty armed forces members in the U.S. military, with more than 400,000 serving the nation abroad. Support Military Spouses works in conjunction with the military to distribute shoebox gifts to spouses, which include a short note of encouragement from the sender, inspirational materials, beauty products, notepads and inexpensive jewelry.
