The AMSA Moving and Storage Agent of the Year Service Excellence award is given to van line agents who focus on the industry’s commitment to excellent customer service. Consideration is also given to additional factors such as leadership, innovation, community involvement and activities that enhance the industry’s image.
DMS Moving Systems has been an Atlas Van Lines agent for 28 years and is headquartered in Canton, Mich. with another location in Birmingham, Ala. The company is one of the industry leaders in using state-of-the-art applications for processing customer information, including the use of handheld devices to facilitate surveys and inventory.
With an initiative that assists in making the moving and storage industry safer, DMS Moving Systems requires a photo ID for all van operators and crew members. Customers can be assured that the crew who handles their move has passed a background check and screening process. The company says this program gives customers piece of mind knowing that the people entering their home are professional, trustworthy and honest.

The distinguished Agent of the Year award is presented to agents nominated by their affiliated van line. For the thirteenth time in 2011, Atlas named DMS Moving Systems a Milton M. Hill Quality Award winner, which recognizes the company’s outstanding performance ratings in customer satisfaction, estimating, claims, safety and warehouse operations. To qualify, an Atlas agent must have also received the Hauling Excellence Award, which requires at least a 90 percent favorable response when customers were asked if they would again choose the agency’s services. Recognized for their sales and hauling revenue, DMS was also awarded a Sales Achievement and Hauling Achievement Award in 2011 from Atlas Van Lines. In addition to these accolades, DMS is an AMSA member with the ProMover credential and RIM certification, and the company’s ISO-9001 certification demonstrates its commitment to quality control.
