Estes employees nationwide expressed their appreciation for America’s military personnel this past December through the company’s patriotic initiative, “Encourage the Living, Honor the Fallen.” Working with the organization Give2TheTroops, Estes’ employees, customers and members of surrounding communities donated more than 13,000 pounds of personal supplies for America’s service men, women and even some canine troops.

Items were collected at terminals across the country, consolidated at key locations and then transported to Give2TheTroops branch sites in Greenville, N.C.; Rocky Hill, Conn.; and Albany, Ore., where the packages were prepared for delivery to U.S. troops deployed to combat and disaster-relief zones around the world. Donations included socks, blankets, toiletries and batteries. Board games, disposable cameras, DVDs and plenty of sweet and savory treats also were given. Gifts for the tail-wagging variety included dry food, toys and brushes.

“Many Estes employees have ties to military service either by serving themselves or by supporting family and friends in one of the branches of the armed forces,” says Rob Estes, president and chief executive officer of Estes, which also participated in the annual Wreaths Across America campaign. ”Their outpouring of support and respect for our service men and women is inspiring, and serves as a reminder to us all what makes America great. I can think of no better way to conclude our 80th anniversary celebration.”
