Ryder Mexico presented its 2011 Service Excellence Awards to top-performing carriers at its second annual Mexican Carrier Celebration and Recognition Event on Jan. 26 at the Hotel Nikko in Mexico City. Thirty-three Mexican trucking companies – more than twice the number of carriers recognized during last year’s inaugural Carrier Celebration and Recognition event – were honored for achieving outstanding results in a variety of key performance areas, including safety and security, on-time performance, customer service and continuous improvement.

“As a logistics provider, we make a promise to our customers that their shipments will arrive at their expected destinations at the right time and in the right conditions,” says Eugenio Sevilla-Sacasa, managing director of Ryder Mexico and vice president of international supply chain solutions for Ryder System. “This is why the carriers we work with are such an important part of our success and our customers’ success – the service they provide is a direct reflection on us. We know we can provide the consistent world-class operational execution our customers have come to expect from us because of the relationships we’ve been able to build over the years with some of the best transportation providers in Mexico.”

Ryder works with a wide range of carrier companies in Mexico with billings of less than a million pesos a year to more than 50 million pesos a year. To ensure they were rated against their peers in volume handled, the carriers were grouped into four categories based on annual billings with Ryder. Thirty-three winners were chosen from among a pool of 85 Mexican carrier companies evaluated for the 2011 period.
