Average diesel price rises 1.7 cents

The average retail price of a gallon of on-highway diesel rose 1.7 cents to $3.96 a gallon during the week ended Monday, Feb. 20, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration. The latest price is 38.7 cents higher than the same week last year.

Prices rose in all regions except the Midwest, where the average price dropped 0.9-cent to $3.848 a gallon, which is the nation’s lowest average price. The smallest increase was 1.1 cents in New England; the largest was 4.9 cents in California, which has the nation’s most expensive diesel at $4.258 a gallon.
