Bergstrom Inc., a provider of climate systems to the commercial vehicle industry, recently celebrated the production of its 30,000th Nite no-idle system. Bergstrom says this milestone has resulted in fuel savings of about 113.7 million gallons per year, which is roughly the equivalent of the volume of water that flows over Niagara Falls every 2.5 minutes.

The 30,000th unit – a Nite Phoenix no-idle system – was manufactured on the company’s newest assembly line that incorporates state-of-the-art technologies such as MicroFlow system leak detection and human machine interface monitors that display ProE CAD models and standardized work instructions for all Nite models produced on the line.

The high-tech assembly line also features an increased level of automation with quality assurance devices that communicate with the HMI, facilitating the highest possible quality standards. In addition, the assembly line provides higher capacity to meet increasing demand for the aftermarket- and factory-installed Nite Phoenix product. The new line also will produce a version of the Nite Phoenix for factory-installed use at a major North American truck OEM.

“The demand for our Nite no-idle systems has increased dramatically over the past year,” says Bill Gordon, vice president of aftermarket and Nite sales. “It was only in May of 2011 that we celebrated the production of our 20,000th unit – that’s 10,000 units in less than 10 months. Our dedicated team is very proud of this milestone and our contributions toward reducing harmful emissions and improving driver comfort on the road.”
