Pluss Corp. announced that it has established a new IT Group to focus on the hardware solution challenges faced by its heavy-duty customers. This group will design, specify, prepackage and support business solutions to help decrease IT support costs and system downtime.

“We elected to get out of the PC hardware business 13 years ago,” says Jim Hutchinson, general manager of Pluss Corp. “It was too competitive, and we just couldn’t compete with local PC suppliers. What we have learned in the last few years is that customers just aren’t getting the overall system designed correctly, and it’s costing them a great deal in support costs. Our work with these customers over the years has given us a wealth of knowledge about what type of system they should be installing. We are confident that we can supply an overall solution that’s less expensive to own and operate.”

Pluss says that in calculating cost of ownership, business owners need to consider the hidden costs of owning and operating their own hardware system; they need to consider the cost of business disruption and ongoing IT support as well as the direct cost of the hardware. Many users are finding the ongoing maintenance cost of their hardware solution is adding up to much more than that of the hardware alone, according to Pluss.

“We have had customers asking us to step up and provide the total solution for years,” says Kenny Nau, director of sales for Pluss Corp. “This will be a big benefit for them because many of them just don’t have the local IT specialists that can help them, or they don’t know one that can do it correctly. We can.”
