The national average retail diesel price dropped 3.6 cents to $3.991 a gallon during the week ended Dec. 10, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration. The latest weekly price is 9.7 cents above the same week last year.
Diesel prices fell in all regions, led by a drop of 6.4 cents on the West Coast excluding California. New England had the nation’s most expensive diesel on average at $4.175 a gallon, but the Central Atlantic was barely lower at $4.174 a gallon. The least expensive diesel on average was in the Gulf Coast region at $3.874 a gallon.
