Eaton has announced that the company’s lineup of manual transmissions are now available as an option on Freightliner chassis equipped with Cummins Westport ISX-12 G heavy-duty natural gas engines. The Eaton transmissions will debut on Freightliner Cascadia day cabs with Westport engines that are scheduled to go into production in September of this year.
Based on the Cummins ISX-12 heavy-duty diesel engine platform, the 12-liter ISX-12 G natural gas engines operate exclusively on either compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG) and feature ratings up to 400 horsepower and 1,450 ft.-lb. of torque. An optional engine brake is also available.
