Sylectus, a business unit of Omnitracs Canada Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, and provider of web-based, transportation management software (TMS), announced that Load One Transportation and Logistics achieved a 36 percent reduction in incidents/accidents since implementing Sylectus’ TMS with Omnitracs’ Driver Workflow and ALK Technologies’ CoPilot Truck on-board, turn-by-turn in-cab navigation.
As announced on August 23, 2013, a definitive agreement was entered into to sell Omnitracs to Vista Equity Partners, a U.S. based private equity firm. Closing of the acquisition is expected during the first quarter of fiscal 2014.
Detroit-based Load One offers a wide variety of transportation services, including air charter, ground expedite, truckload, specialized curtainside flatbeds, over-dimensional, and intermodal management. Looking to streamline operations and enhance fleet management, Load One deployed Sylectus’ TMS and then added Omnitracs’ Mobile Computing Platform 200 (MCP200) and then adopted Driver Workflow to reduce dependence on back-office staff through the delivery of information, prompts and exception notifications that walk drivers through daily job duties and sequence of events.
“Easily paying for itself in the first week of every month, we witnessed our best performance thanks to the automatic address data population in our truck’s in-cab navigation systems, which significantly reduced our out-of-route miles and number of incidents,” said John Elliott, president, Load One. “Additionally, we saw an increase in driver satisfaction through the streamlined interface, which is priceless and just as important to ensuring the success of Load One’s operations.”
The Outbound Group (OBX) Logistics, based in Romulus, Mich., is also leveraging Sylectus’ integration with Driver Workflow to simplify driver interaction with the in-cab unit and reduce time spent manually entering addresses.
“The seamlessly integrated package of Omnitracs’ MCP50, tracking, Driver Workflow and driver communication with Sylectus’ TMS delivered a one, two knock-out punch for us, tremendously improving our operational efficiencies,” said OBX President Harry Zoccoli.
“After speaking with our customers, we found the old macros approach to managing driver workflow was simply not effective or efficient,” said Stuart Sutton, president, Sylectus. “Our latest system enhancements with Omnitracs automatically and intuitively take drivers through their work assignments, making it easier for them to quickly acknowledge arrivals and departures for enhanced productivity.”
Sylectus’ cloud-based, integrated TMS allows competing companies to collaborate and share resources through the Sylectus Alliance Network, a web-based, protected network (Community Load Board).
