The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee will hold a meeting open to the public Feb. 10-11 in Alexandria, Va., to discuss what agenda items FMCSA should push to include in Congress’ next highway funding law.
The current MAP-21 law expires Oct. 1, and Congress must pass a new funding law — or at the very least, an extension of MAP-21 — to continue transportation funding after that date.
MCSAC is composed of 20 member representing industry stakeholders, safety advocacy, safety enforcement and labor, and it meets to form recommendations on regulations for the agency at large.
Public comment at the meetings will be heard during the last half-hour each day. Written comment may also be submitted via the methods listed below.
MCSAC’s Compliance, Safety, Accountability subcommittee will also meet Feb. 12, but FMCSA has not said what it will discuss.
The MCSAC meetings will be held at the Hilton Alexandria Old Town, 1767 King St., Alexandria, Va., in the Washington and Jefferson Rooms on the second floor, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The CSA subcommittee meeting will be Feb. 12, in the same location, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
FMCSA says it will post copies of the committees’ task statements and an agenda on its website prior to the meetings.
To submit written comment for the meetings, visit regulations.gov, fax to 202-493-2251 or mail or hand delivery to Docket Management Facility, U.S. Department of Transportation, 1200 New Jersey Ave. SE, West Building, Room W12-40, Washington, D.C., 20590.
All submissions must include the Docket Number FMCSA-2006-26367.
