Of fleet executives questioned in a recent survey, 62 percent said they intended to place orders for Class 8 trucks in the next three months, and 48 percent said they planned to make trailer orders, per the CK Commercial Vehicle Research’s Fleet Sentiment Report for the first quarter of this year.

The survey, conducted of 52 fleet execs for fleets operating nearly 40,000 power units, also showed fleets see a good environment overall for the quarter.

Respondents said the equipment orders, however, were primarily for replacement, rather than growth. They also indicated the industry’s driver shortage was impactful across all sizes of fleets and all segments.

Responses were collected between Jan. 14 and Jan. 24.
