Lytx, Inc. (formerly DriveCam), a provider of driver safety and compliance systems, announced it has signed an agreement with Wisconsin-based Sentry Insurance to provide Sentry’s transportation clients with the DriveCam powered by Lytx driver safety management system. Sentry will share a significant portion of the monthly program cost, and expects its clients to broadly adopt the DriveCam program.

Additionally, Sentry will leverage the DriveCam program as an integrated component of its loss control services supporting its fleet clients. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“Safety on the road is a priority for Sentry,” said Dave Gibson, sentry’s director of safety services – transportation.  “The DriveCam program will help our customers operate safer fleets and help us protect them against fraudulent claims. We believe so strongly in the program that we’ll share a portion of our customer’s cost to implement the program.”

“We’ve made it a priority to affiliate with the top trucking insurance carriers in the industry, and are thrilled to have Sentry Insurance on board,” said Eliot Feldstein, senior vice president of strategy and corporate development, Lytx Inc. “Sentry has a history of excellent safety services, and we look forward to contributing to its future success by helping to make our roads safer.”

Lytx says its technology improves safety by combining data and video analytics with real-time driver feedback and coaching. This combination results in decreased collision-related costs and fuel consumption, it says, and using its patented Lytx Engine the DriveCam system identifies, scores, prioritizes and tracks the results of driving behaviors to identify improvement opportunities for increased safety.

An in-vehicle device captures driving behavior, which is objectively reviewed and scored by trained professionals, then passed on to the fleet for use in coaching drivers.

Lytx delivers insights to its clients with data that includes video-based events, the DriveCam Online coaching platform, and a large, dedicated client team to help achieve fleet performance improvements.
