Peterbilt announced Sept. 23 it is offering a new anti-theft system for its Models 579 and 567 equipped with the Paccar MX-13.

The system will integrate with the MX-13 and will require operators to enter a passcode to start the truck. The engine will be disabled if an incorrect code is entered. It will be enabled again when the correct code is entered.

The engine must be started within six minutes of entering the code, or it will have to be entered again, Peterbilt says. Passcodes can be changed and the system activated or deactivated at any Pete dealership service department.

The system is already in production and available for order, Pete says.
