At the 2015 Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky., PeopleNet announced it has been selected as the telematics partner for Peterbilt’s SmartLINQ and Kenworth’s TruckTech+ remote vehicle diagnostics systems set to launch later this summer on power units equipped with Paccar MX-13 engines. The system will incorporate PeopleNet’s vehicle health monitoring system, which includes the PeopleNet Mobile Gateway, managed network, cloud services and an online portal for fleets and dealers as well as analytics from Kenworth and Peterbilt engineers.

In addition, the company announced the availability of an introductory version of Cummins Connected Diagnostics on the PeopleNet g3 platform available April 1 that will provide fault code analytics and severity to allow fleet managers to make real-time maintenance decisions.

“Our role is to improve the uptime of the vehicle,” said Garland Jackson, PeopleNet’s newly appointed OEM general manager. “We can allow the manufacturer to get a better feel for what’s going on with their trucks so they can build a better truck. From an end-user standpoint, they now have the capability to get information in a real-time environment about their trucks so they can understand what’s going on and make immediate maintenance decisions and know where to send the truck for repair.”

“The depth of solutions is growing,” added Dan Jester, PeopleNet’s senior director of business development. “Fleets want one place to go and they want the OEM diagnostics. They need an aftermarket player they can trust and we think PeopleNet is a natural fit for that as telematics experts that can integrate all the data into their back-end systems.”
