Paccar, Inc., the parent company of Kenworth and Peterbilt, is recalling 443 trucks.
The recall is on model year 2015-2016 Kenworth K300 and Peterbilt 220 trucks built between Sept. 1, 2014, and March 30, 2015.
The recall affects the cruise control on the vehicles, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Pressing the cruise control decrease speed button on the steering wheel will actually increase the truck’s speed by one mile per hour. Pressing and holding the button will constantly increase the speed until the button is released.
Paccar will notify owners and dealers, and the defect will be fixed by updating the truck’s software free of charge. All affected trucks in production were contained and won’t be released until the problem is fixed.
