Approximately 92 trailers manufactured by Great Dane and Trail King are being recalled due to an issue with axles and suspensions on certain units, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration documents.

Great Dane is recalling approximately 90 of its model year 2018 Everest reefer trailers using Meritor axles and suspensions. Caliper bolts on these trailers did not meet torque specifications, according to NHTSA’s documents. Improperly torqued caliper bolts could result in the caliper detaching, which would cause a loss of braking ability. The affected axles and suspensions were assembled at the Meritor plant in Frankfort, Ky., between Jan. 1 and Aug. 4.

Great Dane will inspect the affected trailers and replace any loose or missing caliper bolts, free of charge. Owners can contact Great Dane customer service at 1-877-369-3493. NHTSA’s recall number is 17V-615.

Only two Trail King trailers are included in the recall. The affected trailers are 2018 Fifth-Wheel Live Bottom belt trailers.

Trail King says it completed the two trailers using Meritor axles and suspensions on June 20 and June 26. The company will inspect the two trailers, free of charge, and replace and loose or missing caliper bolts. NHTSA’s recall number is 17V-614.
