The American Transportation Research Institute is asking for-hire trucking companies to provide operational cost information from 2018 for its annual Operational Costs of Trucking report.
Among the information ATRI is asking for is driver pay, fuel costs, insurance premiums and lease and purchase payments. Carriers are also asked to provide full-year 2018 cost per mile or cost per hour data.
The data collection form can be completed online or printed out and faxed or emailed to ATRI. Both the online version and the PDF can be found here. ATRI asks that the form be completed by June 14. Participating carriers will receive an advance copy of the full report.
This year is the 11th year ATRI has collected cost information on fleet operations. The analysis provides carriers with a benchmarking tool to see what other fleets are spending to operate a truck.
In 2017, carriers’ per-mile costs rose 9.9 cents a mile compared to 2016, with increased spending on driver wages and benefits accounting for more than half of that increase — 5.2 cents.
