Navistar to open new facility focusing on electric trucks
A new Navistar facility in Rochester Hills, Michigan, will house the company’s NEXT eMobility Solutions business unit and will serve as the technical lead location for NEXT and will include design, engineering and analysis of all its electric vehicles and batteries, the company announced recently.
Navistar launched NEXT last October to focus on electrification in trucks and buses.
The new 19,000 square foot facility will employ approximately 50 people focused on electric-specific engineering roles covering areas such as high voltage systems, batteries, power electronics, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, electric vehicle hardware and software integration.
Navistar’s plan is to move into the facility over the next several months. The employees are currently based at the company’s Lisle, Illinois, corporate headquarters.
