Trimac Transportation (CCJ Top 250, No. 64) has acquired California Freight, expanding its bulk food-grade logistics capabilities in California's Central Valley, the company announced Tuesday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Headquartered in Ripon, California, California Freight operates eight trucking terminals, a warehousing facility, and a brokerage operation across California and Nevada. It will continue to operate under its existing name as part of the Trimac Family of Companies.

Founded in 1989 as a regional brokerage, California Freight expanded in 2012 with a transportation division that currently operates a fleet of nearly 250 tractors and almost 300 tankers. The company moves raw milk to processing plants across California's dairy supply chain and serves the wine, food and beverage, and agricultural sectors. Its network includes more than 400,000 square feet of food-grade storage across the San Joaquin Valley and Stanislaus County.

As part of the transaction, Trimac executive Jesse Hanson will join California Freight as president, working alongside the current leadership team.
