Do not drive: Late-model Mack, Volvo trucks recalled
Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks North America are recalling certain model year 2026 and 2027 trucks and instructing owners not to drive the affected units until they are repaired.
According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration documents, the recall was issued because the wheel lug nuts may loosen and allow the wheel to detach. The recalls include approximately 644 Macks and 155 Volvos.
Affected models include:
- 2026 Mack Anthem
- 2026-’27 Mack Pinnacle
- 2026-’27 Mack Pioneer
- 2026-’27 Mack Granite
- 2027 Mack Anthem
- 2026 Volvo VAH
- 2026-’27 Volvo VNL
- 2026-’27 Volvo VN
- 2026-’27 Volvo VHD
- 2027 Volvo VNR
Recall documents state that the affected trucks “may have masking material from a painting process present between the wheels and axle hubs. This may cause the wheel lug nuts to loosen as the material compresses.”
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the repair has been performed. Dealers will inspect the wheel and hub mating surfaces, remove any masking material, and replace any worn components, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were expected to be mailed June 5.

Volvo owners can contact customer service at 800-528-6586 with recall number RVXX2606. NHTSA’s recall number is 26V-350.
DAT rolls out new backhauls feature for Convoy Platform app
DAT Freight & Analytics has expanded the “reloads” feature in its Convoy Platform app, giving carriers a view of available freight near the delivery stop before a load is booked, looking to ease the age-old problem of finding a “backhaul.”
With earlier visibility into backhaul options, carriers can plan beyond the first leg, factor the full trip into their bidding decision, and avoid costly empty miles, DAT noted.
In the Convoy Platform app, carriers will see a badge at the top of the load details indicating the number of reloads available in the delivery market.
Full information on available reloads is available below the facility information on the load details page. Each reload option shows the book-now rate, deadhead miles to the pickup, and pickup timing after delivery. From there, carriers book or bid directly on that freight in the Convoy app.
“Carriers want to keep moving, and every load matters,” said Bill Driegert, EVP, Convoy Platform. “Fuel costs are up, deadheading is a waste, and eliminating empty miles is critical to running a profitable business. Reloads are a simple way to give carriers better information before booking so they can make better decisions and keep their trucks moving.”

XPO celebrating America’s 250th anniversary with new fleet of trailers
XPO (CCJ Top 250, No. 10) this month unveiled a new fleet of trailers honoring America’s upcoming 250th anniversary.
Built at XPO’s manufacturing facility in Searcy, Arkansas, the trailers feature patriotic branding inspired by the American flag.XPO
XPO drivers, including military veterans and those with more than one million consecutive safe driving miles, will transport the trailers across the country while moving freight for the company’s customers.
“The trucking industry is the backbone of the American economy,” said Mario Harik, chairman and chief executive officer of XPO. “As we approach the nation’s 250th anniversary, we’re proud to recognize the drivers and freight transportation professionals who help deliver the goods we all depend on every day. These trailers are a tribute to their hard work and dedication to keeping America moving.”
XPO debuted the trailer fleet during an event at its Searcy manufacturing facility. The company said it is one of the largest trailer manufacturers in the United States and the only freight transportation provider in the country that builds its own trailers. XPO has produced more than 100,000 trailers at the facility since it opened in 1994, the company added.
