Valvoline announced that its Premium Blue One Solution Gen 2 heavy-duty engine oil is now approved to deliver drain intervals of up to 100,000 miles by Cummins on the engine OEM's X15 diesel and natural gas engines, marking a 25,000-mile oil drain extension over the previous approval. The Gen 2 oil was originally developed in 2020 based largely on research partnership between Valvoline and Cummins and is approved for use in multiple heavy-, medium- and light-duty engine applications.
Valvoline has conducted more than 60 million miles of real-world testing on its Premium Blue One Solution Gen 2 oil. The company said it is the first oil manufacturer to have a heavy-duty engine oil to be OEM-approved for 100,000-mile oil drain intervals.
“This milestone means that equipment can spend more time on the job and less time being serviced,” said John Walters, vice president & general manager of Valvoline Heavy Duty, Americas. “Extended drain intervals of up to 100,000 miles may allow many fleet operators to streamline maintenance cycles and minimize downtime while driving measurable time and cost savings. This latest innovation means increased uptime, reduced labor requirements, fewer service events, and less waste oil. Added together, that means a lower total cost of ownership.”
Walters also said the announcement has particular benefit for owner-operator customers. “An owner-operator is essentially a driver, a dispatcher, a maintenance manager, all rolled up in one,” he said. “And for them, staying on the road means staying in business.”
