Telematics and route planning: two cornerstone concepts in over-the-road trucking are coming to seasonal vocational trucks.

Certified Power Solutions (CPS) at Work Truck Week in Indianapolis Thursday afternoon launched FleetPilot Connect, a purpose-driven telematics solution that provides real-time and post-snow- and ice-storm data across key areas of fleet operations, and gives fleet managers information that optimizes route planning for drivers during snow emergencies; addresses winter road maintenance needs; enhances public safety; and effectively streamlines operations before, during, and after snow events.

“CPS helped us facilitate the integration of vehicle and spreader data collection with our accounting system, allowing for new data sets that have helped us to make informed decisions regarding snow events," said Steve Spoor, maintenance operations manager for the Idaho Transportation Department.

FleetPilot Connect offers the ability to collect and quickly access telemetry data across an entire fleet, enabling it to proactively address the needs for public and driver safety, cost control and maintenance, while also adding functionality to the existing fleet, said CPS President Jeff Keating. "We understand that no two snow and ice removal operations are the same, so our cellular-based system works with DOTs and municipalities’ existing investments to meet each customers’ specific needs and ultimately help them keep roads safer in the process.”
