“We believe that tires are arguably the number one opportunity to lower cost and improve efficiency overall for our fleet. So, this is what led us to pursue the approach of telematics and TPMS,” said Jacob Castro-Murillo, a representative from Pressure Systems International (PSI), at the Cummins & P.S.I. 2024 annual fleet technology event in San Antonio, Texas, this month.
Reliance on drivers to monitor and report issues has been largely reactive and ineffective, Murillo said.
Leveraging PSI’s wheel-monitoring system Digital ThermALERT, the company offers API integration with its partners such as Geotab, Goodyear Tires, Spireon, DriverTech, and Platform Science.
Customers can view the telematics UI dashboard, as well as add the APIs as an additional widget. This enables customers to receive data wherever, and optimize and automate operations using customized APIs.
The customized APIs is designed to offer a two-way communication.
“You have your tire sensors, you pull in data. Data then goes transmitted to your telematics sending unit, goes up to the cloud, and then you’re going to have inbound and outbound communication between the telematics UI,” Murillo explained.
If a fleet switches their telematics provider, the company will simply point the data to the new provider.
“We want to ensure that we’re getting data in the right hands to the appropriate stakeholders to allow you to create insights. Insights that will allow you to make quick and efficient decisions to improve your overall fleet efficiency as well as uptime,” Murillo said.
The company has partnered with Road Ready to offer sensors related to trailers, such as ABS and ATIS warning sensor, cargo sensor, temperature sensor, light out detection system, and door sensor.
TireView Live, PSI’s data analytics platform, also has an app to offer fleet management solutions on Apple and Android devices. It’s designed to aid pre-trip tire inspections and post-trip analysis with the click of a button and offers convenient OTA updates and sensor pairing.
The app also offers advanced features, such as filtering by alert type, sorting by terminal, region, or yard, offering vehicle details at-a-glance, and managing sensors at the vehicle via QR code.
With data collected through the TireView Live platform, users can generate data analytics reports, as well as enable fleets to run tire reports and sort by vehicle type, region, etc.
