00:00 This week’s CCJ Tech Shorts includes a new toll management service, a dashboard that highlights zero-emissions progress across states, the entry of an Israeli tech company into the U.S. market and more.
00:25 Weigh station bypass and toll management service provider PrePass introduces a GPS Toll Verification service that aims to save fleets considerable time and money.
By matching GPS locations to toll charges it proactively identifies potential billing inaccuracies using the PrePass app, GPS technology and a proprietary machine-learning engine.
The GPS Toll Verification process will deliver insights that empower fleets to manage tolling expenses more effectively or to initiate tolling disputes, which PrePass can process on behalf of its customers. The INFORM Tolling Analytics Dashboard provides PrePass customers enhanced visibility into their toll charges and the status of disputes. With GPS location data generated from the PrePass app or a telematics service provider, fleet managers can validate their toll charges, ensuring they are not overpaying and reducing the administrative costs and complexity of managing them.
01:21 A new dashboard that displays an interactive visualization of the progress of 17 states and the District of Columbia toward zero-emission truck and bus market transformation is now live.
National nonprofit CALSTART, which aims to build a high-tech clean-transportation industry, recently unveiled its newly created ZET Ahead Dashboard. It is designed to keep policymakers, industry stakeholders and advocates informed about the most impactful state actions and investments while also providing a simple and coherent framework for action for other states looking to kickstart their transition to zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.
The dashboard is an integral part of CALSTART’s goal to phase out diesel pollution from medium- and heavy-duty vehicles across the United States. The Dashboard will continue to see new states added over time.
With regular updates, the dashboard will serve as a go-to industry resource for tracking progress and identifying new opportunities in the shift toward zero-emission heavy transportation solutions.
02:24 SaverOne, an Israel-based technology company that develops and sells advanced transportation safety solutions, signs a new distribution agreement in the United States with trucking company, Motor Supply Inc.
South Carolina-based Motor Supply has been granted exclusive rights in 10 U.S. states to sell, install and support SaverOne's solution.
SaverOne's technology specifically recognizes the driver area in the vehicle and prevents the driver from accessing distracting applications such as messaging, while allowing others (e.g. navigation, calls), without user intervention or consent, to create a safer driving environment.
SaverOne has developed a vulnerable road user solution with the potential to significantly enhance the performance of Advanced Driver Assistance System sensors through a superior ability to deal with non-line of sight situations as well as adverse weather conditions and low visibility. Its technology identifies the exact location and direction of movement of the vulnerable road user via their radio frequency footprint from their cellphone signal. This safety solution supports the avoidance of a collision by early detection of vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians or cyclists in the vicinity of the vehicle.
03:36 Trucker Path’s navigation capabilities are now available through McLeod Software’s TMS.
Drivers can now transition from the McLeod TMS to navigation in the Trucker Path app with a single tap. This integration reduces the need for drivers to manually input navigation information or toggle between applications and reduces back-and-forth communication between dispatchers and drivers.
Fleet managers can send accurate, detailed, pre-configured custom routes directly to drivers in the Trucker Path app, further boosting operational efficiency and reducing fuel costs. And the inclusion of truck size and weight dimensions ensures proper truck routing to avoid low bridges, weight-restricted roadways, tight turns and more, which improves safety and overall route efficiency.
04:21 Another company has also integrated with McLeod. Fleet maintenance software solutions provider DataDis’s flagship product, MIR-RT, is now integrated with McLeod’s solutions for trucking dispatch and freight brokerage management.
This collaboration includes two key integrations – an accounting data integration and a dispatch integration – that aim to improve efficiency.
The accounting integration simplifies the exchange of accounting information related to mechanical maintenance. This integration automates the sharing of accounting data between both systems, eliminating manual data entry, minimizing errors and reducing administrative burdens.
The dispatch integration fosters seamless communication and synergy between the shop and the dispatch team, enabling more efficient planning and coordination. By eliminating redundant data entry and centralizing critical information, fleet managers gain real-time visibility into unit statuses, upcoming maintenance needs and other essential data. This enhanced collaboration between departments not only streamlines operations but also ensures that maintenance and dispatch are fully aligned, resulting in improved decision-making and reduced downtime.
