Dana Holding Corporation unveiled its Spicer TE30 powershift transmission, designed for reach stackers and heavy-duty forklift trucks with an optimized drivetrain system for greater fuel economy and lower cost of ownership.

Compatible with engines ranging from 225 to 300 kW (300 to 400 hp) – including Tier 4 engines – the Spicer TE30 transmission has the same installation envelope as short-drop versions of the Spicer TE27 and Spicer TE32 transmissions, allowing it to fit into existing material handling vehicle designs.

“The Spicer TE30 transmission incorporates a suite of our proven powershift technologies into a new package that will deliver increased productivity and a greater return on investment,” Aziz Aghili, president of Dana Off-Highway Driveline Technologies, says.

The Spicer TE30 transmission features numerous engineering refinements, including decreased spinning speeds of internal components to lower oil churning losses; optimized clutch sizes with intelligent lubrication management; a torque converter with a lock-up clutch to eliminate converter losses in high-power conditions; and reduced gear ratio steps that enable shifting in direct-drive mode.

The Spicer TE30 transmission offers five forward and three reverse speeds, and will be available in the first quarter of 2014.
