Combining Geotab’s telematics with AT&T’s IoT platforms and nationwide data network is “a winning combination for fleets of all sizes,” said Chris Penrose, president of AT&T’s IoT Solutions group in the press announcement. “Now we can help businesses and government customers look holistically at vehicles, assets and mobile workers from a single analytics-based platform.”
The Weir Group, a global trucking company that operates in 70 countries that specializes in manufacturing solutions for the mining, oil & gas, power and industrial industries, is among the first to use AT&T Fleet Management for Enterprise.
The company is better able to meet industry compliance regulations, integrate with multiple internal software systems and improve driver safety and performance.
“Weir must meet many compliance regulations,” said Renae Whitlock, head of North America fleet operations at The Weir Group. “Using AT&T’s Fleet Management solutions helps us ensure we’re meeting the federal electronic logging device mandate for hours of service. It also helps us boost the efficiency of our fleet, lower fuel costs and reduce maintenance costs.”
AT&T is also using the platform across its own fleet of more than 80,000 vehicles, one of the largest in the U.S.
“We can use data from the solution to track and reduce idling time, optimize routing, improve mileage, save fuel and, ultimately, reduce carbon emissions,” Penrose said.
The solution is projected to save AT&T more than $40 million over the next five years.
Geotab is using the AT&T network and its data analytics capabilities. It is also embedding Geotab’s organizational data security measures into each solution, said Neil Cawse, chief executive officer, Geotab.
“Our work together will help make any fleet safer, more productive, efficient and highly secure,” he said.
