Diesel average holds steady

The national average retail price of a gallon of diesel remained stable for the week ending Monday, Jan. 2, dropping less than a full cent, from $2.448 to $2.442.

The Rocky Mountain region saw the biggest drop, according to the U.S. Department of Energy, dropping 1.8 cents from $2.410 to $2.392.

The East Coast remained stable at $2.481. Other regions dropped less than a full cent: the Midwest to $2.412, the Gulf Coast to $2.414 and the West Coast to $2.519.
