Sysco Corp., the largest foodservice marketing and distribution organization in North America and the owner of the largest private truck fleet in the United States, recently finished testing and will begin using a new biodiesel fuel blend supplied by TransMontaigne Inc. in its truck fleets in two states.

“We’ve evaluated blends of between 2 and 5 percent for our fleets in Florida and in Minnesota,” says Terry Taylor, director of national purchasing for Sysco. “We selected TransMontaigne to be our supplier for a number of reasons. Most importantly, we use TransMontaigne’s fuel management program for most of our fuel. Their Navitus Supply Chain Platform has proved to be a valuable and versatile tool for us. Secondly, TransMontaigne handles BQ9000, the gold standard of biodiesel fuel quality. The fact that TransMontaigne can also manage the blends we need made the decision an easy one.”

According to Rick Eaton, executive vice president of TransMontaigne Product Services, “Sysco is definitely progressive and a leader in its evaluation and use of renewable fuels. Not only is biodiesel renewable, but environmentally it just makes good sense.”
